What Q City Is

Q City is a private tech park township within Hyderabad’s Financial District, directly adjoining Gachibowli. Most people who work here treat Q City, Gachibowli and the Financial District as one connected zone, since office campuses, residential blocks and rental listings blend into each other along Nanakramguda Road and around Wipro Circle.

Companies with offices inside Q City include Tata Consultancy Services, Coforge DPA, DST Worldwide Services India, Infor India, Vodafone Idea, Jade Global Software, Erwin India, Gemini Consulting and Services India, Protiviti Consulting, TekLink Software and Wabtec India Industrial. The WaveRock SEZ campus in Nanakramguda is close by, and many people who work there live in the same pockets.

If you work at one of these companies, living near Q City turns your commute into a walk. If you work anywhere else, read the commute section before you decide.

Q City vs Gowlidoddi vs Gopanpally vs Journalist Colony

Almost nobody lives inside Q City’s office blocks. Rooms are in four pockets around it, and each one suits a slightly different person.

Pocket Branded listings (Oct 2026) Starting rents To Q City gate To WaveRock SEZ
Q City 2 Rs. 7,499 to Rs. 9,799 Inside the township Short auto ride

Listing counts and rents are from branded PG and co-living properties on InstaDwell checked on October 19, 2026. Starting rents are usually for a shared room. Walking and driving times via Wipro Circle Road and Journalist Colony Road, checked mid-morning on October 19, 2026 in lighter-than-usual traffic. Peak-hour drives will take longer. As of October 2026, roadworks on Wipro Circle Road were scheduled to run until January 1, 2027, so expect slower drives from Gopanpally until then. This is the Journalist Colony near Gopanpally and Nallagandla, not the one in Jubilee Hills.

Within walking distance of the Q City gate: Journalist Colony (about 10 minutes) and Gowlidoddi (about 14 minutes). Needs a daily ride: Gopanpally, which is a 38 minute walk.

How to pick between them

  • Want to walk to work at Q City? Journalist Colony on the Gopanpally side is the closest, about a 10 minute walk to the gate. Gowlidoddi is about 14 minutes.
  • Working at WaveRock? Gowlidoddi is still closest, about a 10 minute drive. Walking takes nearly 40 minutes.
  • Working at WaveRock from Journalist Colony? It is about a 13 minute drive in light traffic, or around 44 minutes by bus. The bus route is a walk to the Heritage Fresh stop, the 116G to Nanakramguda, then a short walk, for about Rs. 20.
  • Fine with a short daily ride? Gopanpally is only 5 minutes by road from the Q City gate, but a 38 minute walk, so plan on an auto or a bike.

Who Should Live Near Q City

Q City works best for a specific kind of resident.

  • You work at a company inside Q City and want a walk-to-work commute.
  • You work at WaveRock SEZ in Nanakramguda. From Gowlidoddi it is about a 10 minute drive.
  • You drive or take cabs out of the city often and want quick access to the Outer Ring Road.
  • You want managed co-living with shared spaces but would rather not pay Gachibowli rents.

Q City is a weak fit if your daily commute is to HITEC City, Madhapur or Kondapur, since that stretch can add a lot of time at peak hours. It also suits you less if you want malls, nightlife or a big supermarket within walking distance.

Commute From Q City

Q City sits almost on top of the Nanakramguda ORR interchange, so getting onto the Outer Ring Road is fast. Getting to HITEC City, Madhapur or the airport takes longer than the distance suggests, because traffic through the Financial District, Kondapur and Madhapur corridor is heavy during office hours.

Destination Approx. distance Normal traffic Peak hour
ORR, Nanakramguda interchange 0.8 to 1.5 km 3 to 7 min 5 to 12 min
HITEC City, Cyber Towers 8 to 10 km 18 to 30 min 35 to 60 min
Mindspace, Madhapur 9 to 11 km 20 to 35 min 40 to 70 min
Inorbit Mall, Madhapur 9 to 10 km 18 to 30 min 35 to 60 min
Rajiv Gandhi International Airport 32 to 36 km 40 to 55 min 60 to 100 min

A realistic plan from Q City is 45 minutes to HITEC City or Mindspace on a normal day and up to 75 minutes at peak, and 60 to 90 minutes to the airport. Q City has no metro station. The Blue Line ends at Raidurg, so plan around autos, cabs, a two-wheeler or company shuttles.

What’s Walkable Near Q City

Q City is convenient if your workplace is inside the township or at WaveRock SEZ, roughly a 10 to 20 minute walk depending on the gate and tower. For everyday needs, the WaveRock food court, local restaurants and takeaway counters along Nanakramguda Road, small kirana stores and a few pharmacies are within a comfortable walk.

For a full supermarket, a large mall or a major hospital, you are looking at a short cab or auto ride. Factor that into your weekly routine and, more importantly, into your emergency plan.

Why people still choose to live this close. The alternative is often a cheaper area much farther out. From Kukatpally, for example, the Financial District is about 43 minutes each way off-peak, close to an hour and a half a day before rush-hour delays. Living within walking or short-ride distance of Q City avoids that. The trade-off is fewer shops and less to do in the evenings.
